Deepak won 1st prize in the competition and while awarded with prize was asked by The Chief Guest, “HOW DO YOU KNOW THESE MINUTE DETAILS WHAT A DIYA MAKER FACES?” he told “SIR, MY FATHER DO THE SAME.” The chief guest handed him prize money of Rs. 500 to him as a blessing and left. After the competition was over, his teachers praised him and ordered to stay after the competition to meet her. After the completion of the academic competition, the teacher comes to Deepak.
“DEEPAK, YOUR FATHER IS A DIYA MAKER?” The teacher asked. Deepak replied, “YES MAM”
“DO ME A FAVOUR THEN. TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY OF DIWALI COMPETITION AND WE ARE ALSO PLANNING TO CONDUCT A DIYA DECORATION COMPETITION. WILL YOU BRING 100 DIYAS TOMORROW?” The teacher asked.
Deepak was speechless so went back with home with both joy and sorrow. His mother and father asked if what had happened. With some tears in his eyes said, “CAN YOU SELL ME 100 DIYAS FOR THIS RS 500 AS I WON THE COMPETITION AND MADE DEBT ON YOU. I WON THE COMPETITION AND GOT THIS PRIZE MONEY BUT MY TEACHERS ORDERED ME TO BRING 100 DIYAS FOR TOMORROW’S COMPETITION.” The father was heartbroken that his son understood the reality of society. The feelings were mixed and his father without taking his prize money packed 100 Diyas in the box. THE BOX WAS FILLED WITH RESPECT OF DEEPAK, HARDSHIPS OF HIS FATHER, HUNGER OF HIS MOTHERS AND EXPLOITATION AND BARGAINING OF SOCIETY.
This Diwali purchases Diyas to feed a family, give your old clothes to retain the dignity of the poor. Only Diwali Poojan, don’t make you human, but your deeds too. For Shagun only, burn crackers. Make rangolis, exchange gifts, give and have blessings.
THIS DIWALI MAKE IT WORTH TO CELEBRATE BY GIVING TIME TO YOUR LOVED ONES, MAKE CALL TO YOUR OLD FRIENDS, VISIT THEM, FORGIVE AND FORGET THE REGRETS THAT ULTIMATELY ARE HURTING YOU. GO TO ORPHANAGES, OLD AGE HOMES AND THERE IS A LOT TO DO EXCEPT WASTING YOUR MONEY. DON’T BURN YOU MONEY, INVEST THEM, AND UTILIZE THEM. ON A FUNNIER NOTE, IF YOU HAVE ABUNDANCE OF MONEY, GIVE IT ME…. :D.
THIS DIWALI BE THE DIYA OF SOMEONE’S LIFE. CELEBRATE IT.
