GENDER V/S MAN
We were sitting in a group among a bunch of friends and the gossips were turned into a serious talk when one of our friends came their crying and disappointed. She usually came from the train as she was living in another city. We asked her that what happened then she told us about her worst experience, “Today, the train was fully loaded with people. I barely get the place to stand to reach here. While travelling I felt bad touch at my butts. There was no space to turn around to have a look at that shitty person who was molesting me. I was feeling bad and the tears automatically came out of my eyes. I know I was not responsible for that I was wearing proper clothes, still, I was facing this. Then when my face got red and I started crying, the boy in front of me offered their seat as may be he knew why I was crying. I took the seat but I can’t bear till now what was happened with me. I was frightened but with a bit courage I looked at the molester, he was an old person.” We made her comfortable and but still that incident makes me realize we are not safe because of the male but because of mentality that thinks a girl is weak enough to react back.
Who molested her and who offered the seat to protect her, both were of the same gender but what makes one man was that he was human not animal. It’s not about molestation or protection; it’s about where we all are going? If a person rapes at night, he says a girl was roaming so he raped her. Is this reason is sufficient? She is wearing a sexy dress. What if the women of 80 years of age or an infant barely of 4 months got raped? Sorry, I don’t think the dress, age, gender or something natural by nature defines that a girl is to be raped. It’s about our animalistic mentality only.
Generally, the gender of a person defines the gender roles and the identity in the society. We determine the authenticity of deeds not for humanity but for the sake of sex of the individual. This is the only reason that we think of the phrase “MAN WILL BE MAN.” Who are we to say this if we don’t dare to speak up against the odds? Yea, I believe “man will be the man but not all people of the male gender are the man. The semen cannot define the manliness of the infant but his thoughts do.” We at any point in time have definitely realized the fact that not only a chromosome make a person man. We faced exploitation, molestation by our dear ones, strangers and we hardly have respect for them, they are or not men but animals indeed. BE RESPONSIBLE, BE A MAN.
