Selfie

“Let’s take the selfie of this moment just to make it more indelible by getting more likes, comments on the social media,” Sarita exclaimed while sharing her lunch with her gang. Everyone in her group started making some funny faces to make the selfie more lively and funny just to show that their group is good to be having fun with. While capturing moments they failed to live the memories of life as they were so busy to live that hour.

While returning to class someone asked them “Today you all had a great fun. Isn’t it?” the blush on the face of all was making it clear that they were fortunate to befool people that how much fun they had in the canteen but actually are they delude others or themselves? Asked the teacher, while Sarita was uploading their pics on the social media. This question was a surprise to Sarita’s gang.

Sarita tried to expound  that “Mam we had a great fun and now when we will upload the pics, do like and comment our pics as we worked hard to make our friendship visible in the pictures.” Everyone in the class smiled and giggled. And teacher also smiled and asked “Are you sure that these pictures are the proof of your healthy friendship and everyone over there nodded their heads into ‘A Big Yes’.

“How much time you all spent together and what proportion you spent on making your friendship visible in the picture and do tell me about the gossips you made as I want to recall my college days today.” Suddenly Harish replied, we spent almost an hour together and spent 45 minutes while taking these pictures, but hardly we gossiped as rest time we took to order the delicious Pasta and mesmerizing Manchurian in the canteen.

“That’s what I crave to tell you all that, making memories is the lifetime, where capturing the moments is secondary. In today’s time including me are so busy to capture these picture but are hardly bothered about how to live that moment in the more memorable way. You can take fewer pictures but in order to show our friendship on social media, we are not at all prioritizing what is actually important for our friendship and same in our other relationships. Undoubtedly, it makes us happier when we get new more likes on our posts but what if we hardly know each other or we don’t have the time to understand each other.”

From that day onwards everyone was not busy on social media but were busy in talking to the people around them as they understood that to live a moment you need liveliness in the time not the fabricated filtered version of everything. The bond among the group and also the class grew like an implanted seed of relationship was ready to blossom like the flowers in the surroundings.
